Last night, I fed her the food again, and sure enough, she threw up in the night. I trusted and liked this food - and all things under the Newman's Own brand - but I'll never buy their products again.

They clearly have a dangerous quality control problem. I tried many different types of dry food for my picky eater, a cavalier King Charles spaniel.

He's getting a bit grey, but is as bouncy as he ever was 10 years ago. I switched my mini-Schnauzers over to Newman's Own Organics a month ago when they came off of their puppy chow.

Canidae doesn't help my dogs' particular issues like raw does. However, Canidae is a heck of a lot easier and cheaper to feed, and my furry kids certainly do love Canidae's taste, they inhale it.

I checked my bag of food and found nothing written as far as NEW FORMULA. I cooked them all boiled chicken and rice and the symptoms went away. He was having serious gastrointestinal problems that weren't clearing up -- until we started him on Newman's Own. Since then, he has been regular, happy, and healthy. For your dog's sake switch their food; you can do a lot better than chain-store foods! I just bought a bag of Canidae with the new formula.

Personally, I enjoy the product because as a life-long vegetarian, it was important to find a food with strict animal compassion practices, and Newman's Own apparently has those. It's affordable as well. For me the evidence is clear - this is good quality food, my dog loves it and I love that when I buy Newman's Own products, the royalties go to charity! Since we began using this several years ago our senior dogs rarely need to visit the vet. After a week I put her back on her regular food- Canidae- and the problem she was having before began to return, albeit gradually. We have now started to see spots of blood again.

This is one of the best dog foods for our 11 year old Jack Russell mix. The best dog food ever for my dog. I am very involved with dog rescue - in fact I am a founding board member of a large and active rescue group that adopts 500 or more dogs per year while keeping very high standards with the placement standards. We (as a dog rescue) have used Canidae for years and recommended it to many adopters, but recently we (personally) have seen problems with our dogs', as well as dogs throughout the rescue, stools.

In addition to my issues, my breeder, who recommended the food to me, and who has been feeding her dogs Canidae for much longer than I, has taken her dogs off the food. Her dogs became violently ill, vomiting non-stop, itching, acting lethargic.

If your dog doesn't have weird kibble digestion issues like mine do, then Canidae Grain Free ALS is a 5 star dog food. For my dogs' sensitive systems, it's a 4-star food. Because of this she only gets really excited when "people" food is offered to her. Well when I open this bag she comes over and eats ASAP.
