The Bearded Collie is a dog which has medium for its size and a weight within the range of 40 to 58 lbs. It has a minimum height of 20 inches up to a maximum of 22 inches. It has a lot of fur which makes it look bigger than its actual size. It is naturally joyful and accommodating to anyone. Thus, it is not a dog suitable to guard your house from any villain because of its kind attitude towards people.

AKC made mentioned of this dog. A Bearded Collie is available in tan, fawn, brown, black and grey colors along with a few spots of the color white. Those white spots may be present or not in the early stages of their lives. Their fur may have a lighter color and even change once they start to grow. Their most usual mix of color will be white and gray or white and black. The coat in the upper part of their body is shaggy, straight and longer than the lower part which is thick and soft. These parts all need to be combed in a regular basis to keep away from any form of tangled hair. Since they have a fur that is long and shabby on the lower portion of their chin, they are branded with the "beardie" nickname.

This kind of dog is full of love and energy which makes it suitable as a pet for any family. They get along well with individuals. They are best for families which have kids and other dogs. They can mingle with other types of pets once they get used to them. There's never a dull moment with them around and they need a lot of time exercise and recreational activities. They require a lawn where they can walk or run around. Getting them is a great option if you plan to have a long vacation. However, you need to train them beforehand for they can be hard headed at times but they can follow instructions easily.

50 decades ago, the first Bearded Collie came from the land of Scotland. The Polish sheepdog is said to be its ancestor. They were used before to lead cattle and sheep. That's how they got the name "Collie" which is the equivalent of "herding dog" for people in Scotland. Also long ago, they help people in tracking activities and up until now, they still serve as herding dogs in a few places.
